Department of AppliedArts Department of Painting Department of Photo & Digital Media Sri Venkateshwara College of Fine Arts offers courses leading to the award of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree by the Osmania University, Hyderabad, A.P., in the subjects of Applied Arts, Painting and Photography. Admission to all the courses of study shall be made subject-wise. Selection of the candidates for admission will be strictly on the basis of merit in the Aptitude Test conducted for this purpose by the college for each course. DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED ARTS The Department of Applied Arts offers a 5-year degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising and Visual Communication. The programme is open to all those who have finished high school education (SSC). The annual intake is 40. The academic programme is divided year-wise. After two years of common foundation course in the basics of art, the remaining three years are devoted to professional training. The course structure involves fundamentals of advertising and design inputs such as Typography, Illustration, Media Design, Media Management and Photography. The students are sent for a practical media experience in an advertising agency in the final year. At the end of the fifth year the students submit a single concept dissertation to complete the degree requirement.
THE DEPARTMENT OF PAINTING The Department of Painting offers a degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in Painting. The annual intake is 40. The academic programme consists of 5 years. After two years of common foundation course in the basics of art, the remaining three years are devoted to professional training. The programme concentrates on the development of basic skills in drawing, colour design and adequate knowledge of the History of Arts and Aesthetics. The course is designed to prepare students through intense theoretical input and practical training to develop their intuitive abilities.The students acquire the understanding of creative use of drawing, oil colour, water colour, tempera and other media of painting. They learn the elements of figurative and non-figurative composition. They develop competence in landscape painting, life study, portraiture and mural design in traditional and non-traditional media. The students also get acquainted with various technical processes of print making such as Etching, Lithography and Woodcut. At the end of fifth year, students submit a single concept dissertation. During the five years, students gain sufficient expertise to apply their skill in related fields of art and craft, such as textile design, interior decoration, creative crafts, book illustration and other areas of design application. DEPARTMENT OF PHOTOGRAPHY The Department of Photography offers a 3-year degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. The annual intake is 40. The academic programme consists of three years The degree programme in photography offers courses in four areas of inter-related studies such as photography as fine art, professional photography, photo journalism and audio - visual communication.The programme seeks to develop in students technical and aesthetic competence by exposing them to the various aspects of the theory, history and practice of photography through lectures, workshops, seminars and exhibition.The department has three well equipped darkrooms and one studio.
